Last week, we welcomed Medical Mavericks to the Trust. We identified Y9 students with an interest in working in the medical and care sectors, and they were able to try out small medical procedures such as taking blood pressure, doing an ECG, performing keyhole surgery, and even taking blood from a phlebotomy training arm. Last week, Y10 students attended their Careers Fair. This was an opportunity for students to learn about the options they have after they leave school in Y11. Students spent time learning about the different options in more detail, learning how to use the careers platform Unifrog, and finally, a session on preparing for their upcoming work experience. The staff and students wore some fantastic costumes, and decorated the schools with different themes according to what they are currently learning. Wickersley Sixth Form’s Value Added (VA) results – the key performance measure for Post-16 education – have been officially published on the Government website. On Wednesday 26th February, 16 Y8 Sports Leaders from Thrybergh Academy supported the Rotherham School Games Primary Panathlon events. The day saw the leaders deliver and officiate seven different activities across a morning and an afternoon session, working with 12 schools and over 80 children from the borough. Panathlon is a national charity which gives young people with disabilities and special educational needs the opportunity to take part in
RCS student, Evie, is part of the Kazoku Martial Arts Team, and she practises Bo Staff in the Weapons Team. She has recently completed in the WMAC World Games Qualifiers in Stafford, and she placed 2nd in creative weapons kata, and 3rd in musical weapons kata. With two podium finishes, she now has a place in Team GB for the WMAC World Games in Hull, in September! She
