Monday 10th to Friday 14th March was the first ever Rotherham Girls Week. The aim was to get as many girls active as possible, especially within the community. Last week, we welcomed Medical Mavericks to the Trust. We identified Y9 students with an interest in working in the medical and care sectors, and they were able to try out small medical procedures such as taking blood pressure, doing an ECG, performing keyhole surgery, and even taking blood from a phlebotomy training arm. Last week, Y10 students attended their Careers Fair. This was an opportunity for students to learn about the options they have after they leave school in Y11. Students spent time learning about the different options in more detail, learning how to use the careers platform Unifrog, and finally, a session on preparing for their upcoming work experience. On Tuesday 4th March 2025, the Rotherham School Games Team in collaboration with the Wath Academy Football Scholarship staff delivered their annual #LetGirlsPlay day, which involved a morning and an afternoon session for girls in Year 3. On Wednesday 26th February, 16 Y8 Sports Leaders from Thrybergh Academy supported the Rotherham School Games Primary Panathlon events. The day saw the leaders deliver and officiate seven different activities across a morning and an afternoon session, working with 12 schools and over 80 children from the borough.
