Over the holidays, we held an Easter competition, which was open to all students across the Trust. The challenge was to take an Easter themed selfie/photo, or create a design. We had some fantastic entries and enjoyed seeing all of the creative things that our students got up to over the half term! The secondary RE team were invited to iftar (fast-breaking evening meal of Muslims in Ramadan) at Madina Masjid Sheffield. The team have recently completed our series of Year 7 visits to the mosque for this academic year in our Rotherham schools, these visits form part of our entitlement curriculum, enabling students to visit free of charge. Our RE colleagues attended as visitors alongside members of the police and fire service.
Just before the end of Spring Term, as part of our weekly Wellbeing Wednesday initiative, staff from across Wickersley Partnership Trust were invited to make their own Easter Egg Cheesecake! Over 180 colleagues from our 13 schools and central team were given the tools and ingredients to fill half an Easter egg with cheesecake and decorate how they wished. Last weekend (22nd-24th March), students from primary and secondary schools from across Wickersley Partnership Trust attended The Don Valley Festival! The festival is a community event that has a strong emphasis on young talent and creativity in Doncaster and beyond. On Tuesday 12th March, the Rotherham School Games team ran two Boccia festivals with the help of the Rawmarsh Community School Sports Leaders. In the morning 12 primary schools, including 4 of our Trust primaries, came down and played Boccia, with some playing the game for the very first time! Congratulations to our Careers Adviser, Beverley Jones, for achieving her Level 6 Diploma in Careers Guidance & Development! Beverley’s role at the Trust includes conducting 1:1 Post-16 careers interviews with KS4 students, informing them of their Post-16 options and empowering them to independently research their options to help with next step decision making. She also organises KS4 careers fairs, which enable students to meet face-to-face with local employers and training
On Friday 8th March, we held another Careers Fair at our Cranworth Road site. It was Y10’s time to come down and gain insight into the Post-16 and career opportunities available to them, both locally and nationally. Students from Wickersley School & Sports College, Thrybergh Academy, Rawmarsh Community School and Clifton Community School came along to network with colleges, universities, the armed forces, public sector organisations and private sector companies.
