Last Friday, Clifton Community School welcomed hundreds of students, staff and families to celebrate Culture Day, recognising the wide range of cultures represented across the school community. First introduced in 2023, these Cultural Exchange events have quickly become a much-loved part of the school calendar. Today, Monkwood Primary School students put on some antlers and raced around the school grounds, raising an incredible £8,000 (and still counting!) for Rotherham Hospice. A whopping 450 students took part in the sponsored Reindeer Run, turning the playground into a sea of reindeer and filling the school with holiday cheer. Rawmarsh Ashwood Primary School students are continuing to make a difference in the community through a long-standing partnership with Broadacres Care Home. Last week, we welcomed Medical Mavericks to the Trust. We identified Y9 students with an interest in working in the medical and care sectors, and they were able to try out small medical procedures such as taking blood pressure, doing an ECG, performing keyhole surgery, and even taking blood from a phlebotomy training arm. Last week, Y10 students attended their Careers Fair. This was an opportunity for students to learn about the options they have after they leave school in Y11. On Wednesday 26th February, 16 Y8 Sports Leaders from Thrybergh Academy supported the Rotherham School Games Primary Panathlon events. The day saw the leaders deliver and officiate seven different activities across a morning and an afternoon session, working with 12 schools and over 80 children from the borough. Panathlon is a national charity which gives young people with disabilities and special educational needs the opportunity to take part in
RCS student, Evie, is part of the Kazoku Martial Arts Team, and she practises Bo Staff in the Weapons Team. She has recently completed in the WMAC World Games Qualifiers in Stafford, and she placed 2nd in creative weapons kata, and 3rd in musical weapons kata. With two podium finishes, she now has a place in Team GB for the WMAC World Games in Hull, in September! She

Last week, for Children’s Mental Health Week 2025, our students took part in some workshops, delivered by With Me In Mind (WMIM). On Saturday, Attendance Manager at The Gainsborough Academy, Mr Wilby competed at the A/BPU Powerlifting Competition, and we’re proud that he came 1st in his category. He has now been invited to represent Great Britain at the A/WPC in Wroclaw, Poland in June and the Powerlifting Games at the NEC Birmingham in November. Well done, Mr Wilby!

We are extremely proud that Brinsworth Whitehill Primary School has been accredited with the Rotherham Charter Gold status from Genuine Partnerships and Rotherham Charter for the third time. Since first starting to work with Genuine Partnerships and Rotherham Charter back in 2025, the school has been working hard to provide an exceptional SEN offer, and a safe space to work in close partnership with children and their families. Last Friday, several of our WPT primary schools got into the festive spirit during their Carol Concert service. They were able to experience a live brass ensemble, performed by the wonderful WPT Music staff, as the children sang alongside them. All the children have worked incredibly hard to learn all the songs, and everyone had a fantastic time. Well done to all those involved!
Last month, Foljambe Primary School turned 70! The school first opened its doors back in 1954, and to celebrate its 70th anniversary, students were given an assembly on the history of Foljambe, with Mrs Lawery showing them some of the original documents from its grand opening. On Wednesday 23rd October, as part of our weekly Wellbeing Wednesday initiative, staff from our Rotherham schools were invited to carve their own pumpkin for Halloween! Over 150 colleagues from the 12 schools and central team were given their own carving set to try and design a spooky pumpkin, that was provided for them. Clifton student, Mason, has gone above and beyond for his team and his country, placing 3rd and receiving a Bronze Medal in points fight at the World Games! On Wednesday 2nd October the Rotherham School Games Team, in partnership with Panathlon, hosted two Ten Pin Bowling Festivals at Hollywood Bowl in Sheffield. Last week, we celebrated European Day of Languages across the Trust. The schools had a variety of activities to get everyone involved. Students watched films playing in different languages at break, they took part in language treasure hunts around school, and even brought some fabulous entries to a European Bake-off! On Wednesday 10th July, a selected group of Y6s, Y7s, Y8s and Y9s attended the MAT Sports Day from Wickersley, Clifton, Rawmarsh and Thrybergh. On Friday 17th May, 700 children from around Rotherham came together to take part in the Rotherham School Games Colour Run in aid of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, based in North Anston. 24 schools registered their children in March, then spent the following weeks learning about Bluebell Wood’s work through assemblies etc. Runners were then encouraged to gain sponsorship from friends and families via the JustGiving page and
On Wednesday 8th May, the Rotherham School Games team ran two Y3/4 Dynamos Open Cricket tournaments at Whiston Parish Church Cricket Club. The event saw thirteen schools and over 120 children including Brinsworth Whitehill and Aston Hall competing and playing Cricket across two sessions. This week, the Outdoor Education Team ran a trust wide climbing competition with The Climbing Hangar and Rotherham School Games, for the schools’ climbing clubs. The students all challenged themselves and pushed their boundaries to complete climbs in a friendly competitive environment. Primary students across the Trust have all taken part in the TEKK Challenge as part of their in-classroom learning. This was in collaboration with @BETogether2013 TEKK Challenge and @HSBC_uk. The secondary RE team were invited to iftar (fast-breaking evening meal of Muslims in Ramadan) at Madina Masjid Sheffield. The team have recently completed our series of Year 7 visits to the mosque for this academic year in our Rotherham schools, these visits form part of our entitlement curriculum, enabling students to visit free of charge. Our RE colleagues attended as visitors alongside members of the police and fire service.

On Wednesday 21st February, the Rotherham School Games team hosted the first ever NFL Flag Football Training Day with the help of NFL UK at the Cranworth Campus. The day saw 14 members of staff come down and learn all the elements of Flag Football, allowing them to then pass on their knowledge and skills learnt within their primary schools. The Rotherham School Games team hosted their every popular Sports Hall Athletics Programme in January and February, with children from Y5, Y6, Y7 and Y8 having the chance to participate. The primary programme consists of 10 boys and 10 girls making up a team, accumulating points for their times, distances and scores across a number of indoor track and field events.
