On Wednesday 3rd July 2024, 20 schools from around Rotherham, including four of WPT’s primary schools, were invited to attend the very first ‘Inspire and Engage’ School Games Festival of Sport at Herringthorpe Stadium. Last Wednesday and Thursday evening, Y6s from all of our primary schools came together to celebrate the end of their primary school journey at the WPT Y6 Prom! On Friday 17th May, 700 children from around Rotherham came together to take part in the Rotherham School Games Colour Run in aid of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, based in North Anston. 24 schools registered their children in March, then spent the following weeks learning about Bluebell Wood’s work through assemblies etc. Runners were then encouraged to gain sponsorship from friends and families via the JustGiving page and
On Tuesday 16th and Wednesday 17th, the Rotherham School Games Team hosted four Gymnastics Festivals at Phoenix Gymnastics Academy. The festivals were attended by over 180 children, from 19 schools across Rotherham. On Friday 8th March, we held another Careers Fair at our Cranworth Road site. It was Y10’s time to come down and gain insight into the Post-16 and career opportunities available to them, both locally and nationally. Students from Wickersley School & Sports College, Thrybergh Academy, Rawmarsh Community School and Clifton Community School came along to network with colleges, universities, the armed forces, public sector organisations and private sector companies.
