On Wednesday 8th October, the Rotherham School Games Team hosted their annual Ten Pin Bowling Competition, delivered in collaboration with Panathlon at a new venue – Rotherham Superbowl.
The event, which was split across a morning and afternoon session, welcomed an incredible 26 schools from across the borough – including Aston Lodge, Aston Hall and Brinsworth Whitehill from within our Trust – all coming together to take part in a day that celebrated competition, friendship and inclusion. It was wonderful to see over 120 children showcasing their bowling skills, cheering one another on and embracing the joy of participation.
There was even a record number of stickers awarded for Strikes and Spares!
A huge congratulations goes out to our very own, Aston Lodge Primary School, who finished first in the morning session. The students demonstrated exceptional teamwork, determination and self-belief – values that lie at the heart of all of our sporting opportunities.
Events like this aim to inspire young people of all abilities to be active, while giving them the chance to experience the excitement of competition in accessible, inclusive and sometimes less traditional sports.
Our close partnership with Rotherham School Games plays a key role in making events like this possible. Together, we are committed to encouraging inclusive sport across our schools, ensuring that every young person – regardless of ability or background – has the opportunity to enjoy physical activity and develop confidence through sport. This ongoing collaboration helps us to provide a wide variety of opportunities, from grassroots participation to competitive events – promoting lifelong engagement with health and wellbeing.
On behalf of Wickersley Partnership Trust and the Rotherham School Games Team, we would like to thank Andy from Panathlon for his continued support and for providing the medals and certificates that made the day even more special for our participants. Our thanks also go to Holly and the team at Rotherham Superbowl, whose hospitality and enthusiasm helped create such a positive environment for all involved.
We’re already looking forward to the next Panathlon event in February, which will take place at Thrybergh Academy.
Well done to all who organised and took part!
