Thursday 8th May marked the 80th anniversary of VE Day, and to commemorate the occasion, staff and students across Wickersley Partnership Trust (WPT) took part in a range of activities including:
- Dressing in red, white or blue
- Singing songs from the 1940s
- Learning about VE Day in History lessons
- Visiting a care home to hear first-hand stories about the War
- Making their own Union Jack flags
Thrybergh Academy even welcomed Y5 students from local primary schools to join them in the celebrations, and held a street party-themed lunch and outdoor games.
Students across our Trust were really engaged throughout the day, and had a fantastic time learning more about the history of the United Kingdom, and how Britain rejoiced and celebrated the end of conflict in Europe by putting aside differences and coming together as a community.
Thank you to those who organised the event!
