We are extremely proud that Brinsworth Whitehill Primary School has been accredited with the Rotherham Charter Gold status from Genuine Partnerships and Rotherham Charter for the third time.
Since first starting to work with Genuine Partnerships and Rotherham Charter back in 2025, the school has been working hard to provide an exceptional SEN offer, and a safe space to work in close partnership with children and their families.
Brinsworth Whitehill was first awarded Charter status in 2018 and later re-accredited in 2021. This was an excellent achievement but the work didn’t stop there! Since the last re-accreditation a few years ago, the school has achieved some wonderful things including phase-opening a brand new alternative provision, The Orchard – a 20 place provision for students across Rotherham with communication and interaction needs.
As well as this, it is now an athsma-friendly school.
Genuine Partnerships and Rotherham Charter said: “The school has been long committed to working in true partnership with children and their families and this shone through on our visit. Parents came in to meet the Charter team and were eager to share their stories with us, with many having had painful school experiences elsewhere.
“Whitehill attracts families not just from its local catchment but typically parent carers with children who have additional needs travel across town so that their children can attend the school, having heard the reputation for being inclusive and its excellent SEN offer.
“The level of trust parents place in school can’t be underestimated. Without hesitation, parents trust the staff to look after their children and hold them precious, and the word we heard repeated more than any other from the children was that school makes them feel ‘safe’.”
Mrs Oxborough, Headteacher at Brinsworth Whitehill Primary School, added: “We’re super proud to be accredited for the third time with the Rotherham Charter Gold Award. It’s a recognition of our partnership work with parents and the school community, and our dedication to improving and adapting our inclusive practice.”
Brinsworth Whitehill has high standards and high aspirations, and is looking forward to continuing the fantastic SEN offer, working to become an ADHD-friendly school, and further developing The Orchard.
Thank you to Genuine Partnerships and Rotherham Charter for this award, but most of all thank you to Brinsworth Whitehill’s school community – staff, students and families – for helping the school aim high and its goals.
