Celebrating Success at MAT Excellence Awards

Wickersley Partnership Trust is honoured to have been named Highly Commended in the Wellbeing Trust of the Year category at the MAT Excellence Awards.

This national recognition celebrates our whole-Trust approach to supporting both students and staff across 13 schools, additional resource provisions and our Central Team. It reflects our commitment to providing a wide-ranging and inclusive wellbeing offer that enables everyone to achieve their best.

For students, this includes dedicated Mental Health Leads, trauma-informed support, in-house counselling, and access to specialist services such as With Me In Mind and Kooth. Student voice is central to our approach, with thousands of pupils taking part in wellbeing surveys each year to help shape targeted support and interventions. We are also proud of our enrichment promise, including free residential experiences for Year 6 students and inclusive sport opportunities through Rotherham School Games, all of which help to build confidence, resilience and wellbeing.

Staff wellbeing is equally prioritised through the WPT Wellbeing Charter, which promotes healthy work-life boundaries, reduced workload, flexible working and high-quality professional support. Colleagues also benefit from extensive reward and recognition programmes, wellbeing events, and access to 24/7 health services.

Helen O’Brien, CEO at Wickersley Partnership Trust, said: “The Highly Commended award is a proud moment for WPT, recognising the dedication of our colleagues, students and communities working together to place wellbeing at the heart of education. It’s fantastic that the efforts our colleagues put in to make our Trust a great community for both staff and students has been acknowledged on a national stage.

“We are extremely proud of what has been achieved, but equally committed to continuing this journey. We will build on this success, further strengthening and developing our offer so that every member of our Trust feels supported and able to succeed.”

We were also shortlisted for the SEND Award, highlighting the strength of our work to support students with additional needs across our Trust. This nomination reinforces our drive to ensuring inclusive practice, high-quality provision and tailored support remain central to the experiences of our learners with SEND.

Congratulations to all of the other finalists and winners at the MAT Excellence Awards. There is so much amazing work taking place across the education sector, often behind the scenes, and it is inspiring to see Trusts commended for the difference they make to children and young people every day.
