A huge congratulations to all students from across our Trust who took part in this year’s Rotherham School Games Colour Run on Friday, helping to raise an incredible £14,600 – alongside other schools from across the borough – for Rotherham Hospice. And donations are still being counted!
We were proud to host the event in partnership with Rotherham School Games on Rawmarsh Community School’s fields. Over 1000 primary and 300 secondary students ran multiple laps of the 500-metre course while volunteers covered them in colourful paint powder along the way.
This was a fantastic opportunity for our Year 6s to celebrate completing their SATs, while also promoting physical activity, encouraging active citizenship and inspiring young people to support their local community.
Funds raised from the Run – which was sponsored by Meadowhall – will support Rotherham Hospice in continuting its vital work, providing compassionate care, comfort and support to patients and families facing terminal illness across the borough.
The Just Giving page is still open until Monday 1st June for anyone wishing to donate.
David Walker, Rotherham School Games Organiser: Our Colour Run has been a fantastic way to bring young people together from right across Rotherham for a really positive cause. The atmosphere throughout the day was incredible and it was great to see students supporting one another while raising money for Rotherham Hospice. We are incredibly grateful to all the schools, volunteers and sponsors who helped make this possible once again.”
Helen O’Brien, CEO at Wickersley Partnership Trust: “Wickersley Partnership Trust is proud to have supported this event alongside Rotherham School Games. Our strong partnership with School Games continues to create fantastic opportunities for young people to engage in physical activity, teamwork and charitable initiatives that support our commitment to active citizenship. It has been inspiring to see young people from across the borough come together with such enthusiasm, kindness and community spirit, and we are delighted that the event has raised such a significant amount for Rotherham Hospice and the vital work it does within our community.”
Ruth Wallbank, Head of Fundraising at Rotherham Hospice: “We are so grateful to everyone at Rotherham School Games for choosing to partner with Rotherham Hospice on the 2026 School Games Colour Run, especially as we are celebrating our 30th Anniversary this year. The staff and students made it an unforgettable day with their energy and enthusiasm, and we have raised a fantastic amount to help us continue to be there for Rotherham families who need us. It costs £10.2 million a year to keep our doors open and we couldn’t do it without our local community partnering with us on events just like this. A huge thank you from everyone at Rotherham Hospice!”
Darren Pearce, Centre Director at Meadowhall: “It’s been brilliant to support Rotherham Hospice as fundraising partner for this year’s Rotherham School Games Colour Run. Seeing pupils from schools across Rotherham turn out, get covered in colour and raise money for such an important local charity has been really special – and a real pleasure to be part of. A huge well done to everyone who took part, and to the top fundraisers who have earned Meadowhall gift card prizes.”
The final fundraising total is expected to increase further as remaining donations are collected.
