We’re proud that Wickersley Partnership Trust has been shortlisted for both the SEND Award and Wellbeing Trust of the Year in this year’s MAT Excellence Awards, delivered by Optimus Education.
The awards celebrate innovation, impact and excellence across multi-academy trusts, recognising those making a real difference to students, staff and communities across the country.
22.8% of our Trust’s student population are identified as having SEN, compared to the national average of 14.2%. The shortlisting recognises our strong and connected SEND provision, which supports all students with SEN and operates multiple Additional Resource Provisions serving over 110 learners.
It also acknowledges our whole-Trust commitment to mental health and wellbeing across our 13 schools, integrated resources and Central Team.
This achievement comes in the wake of many recent initiatives and accomplishments, including:
SEND
- Establishing six Additional Resource Provisions to maximise reintegration and deliver excellence in intervention – three external provisions to support across Rotherham and three internal Trust provisions
- Embedding trauma-informed practice and Trust-wide SEND CPD to ensure inclusion is a shared responsibility
Wellbeing
- Introducing dedicated mental health leads, in-house counsellors and specialist external partnerships across all schools
- Delivering termly wellbeing surveys engaging over 3000 students, directly shaping targeted SEMH support
- Launching a comprehensive Staff Wellbeing Charter, including enhanced PPA time, protected leadership time and 24/7 health support
- Championing inclusive sport and residential experiences for students to build confidence, resilience and cultural capital
Ann-Marie Lee, Executive School Improvement Partner at Wickersley Partnership Trust, said: “We’re so proud to be recognised on a national stage for our continued focus on two of our Trust’s top priorities: SEND and wellbeing. This acknowledgement reflects the dedication of our staff, the resilience of our students and the strength of our inclusive culture. Everything we do is guided by our commitment to give every child the support we would want for our own, while ensuring our colleagues are fully supported to make this possible.”
The awards ceremony takes place on Thursday 18th June.
