Y11 Careers Fair

Last week, we held our WPT Y11 Careers Fair once again. We welcomed students from across our Rotherham schools to explore the wide range of Post-16 and career pathways available to them.

The event was buzzing with activity throughout the day, with students engaging directly with a wide range of providers including colleges, universities, the armed forces, public sector organisations and private sector employers.

The WPT Careers Fair reflects our ongoing commitment to preparing students for life beyond school. We are deeply committed to the Gatsby Benchmarks, ensuring students have access to up-to-date careers information, personal guidance from qualified advisers and insightful encounters with employers and training providers. Through our careers curriculum – delivered in every subject, at designated times in the year – students learn about different pathways and develop the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to navigate their future.

We extend our thanks to all of the providers who joined us and contributed to make the event such a positive and impactful experience for our students:

Amberdene Accountancy | Academy of Live Technology | AMG Chrome / Aluminium Ltd | AMRC | Armed Forces Careers Office | Barnsley College | Business & Enterprise Together | Breheny Group | CR Reynolds | Doncaster College | DWP – Department of Work and Pensions | Education Assets | Enable Futures | First Intuition – Accountancy Academy | GB Creative Academy | Hair and Beauty Academy | Ibstock Brick | McDonald’s | Mears Group | MPCT – Military Academies | National Horseracing College | NHS | Nova Arts Academy | Reed Talent Solutions | RMBC Early Years | Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council | RNN Group | Rolls Royce | Sheffield Hallam University | SMEA – Sheffield Metallurgical & Engineering Asc | Street League Post-16 Provider | Thomas Rotherham College | Volker Rail | Wickersley Sixth Form | Yorkshire Wildlife Park

Ms Jones, Careers Adviser at Wickersley Partnership Trust, said: “Our Trust-wide Careers Fair is a fantastic opportunity for our Y11 students to access a variety of opportunities. As students move closer to their Post-16 decision-making stage, events like this offer invaluable insight and guidance.

“Students were able to speak directly with professionals, ask thoughtful questions and explore a variety of pathways including apprenticeships, A Levels, vocational routes and T Levels. These conversations broaden their understanding of different sectors and help to build their confidence, develop social skills and gain a real sense of where their interests could take them.”

Our students represented WPT brilliantly and we are incredibly proud of the maturity and enthusiasm they showed throughout the event.

A huge thank you to all staff and providers who helped make this year’s Y11 Careers Fair so valuable and inspiring for our young people.
