Over the past few weeks, three of our secondary schools hosted their annual Sports Awards. Wickersley School and Sports College, Rawmarsh Community School and Thrybergh Academy proudly celebrated the achievements, commitment and dedication of hundreds of our students.
Each evening showcased a wide range of awards, from Outstanding Individual Performance and Team of the Year, to accolades for progress, resilience, leadership and commitment to sport. Our students were recognised not only for excelling in competitive fixtures, but also for embodying our core values promoted throughout our PE curriculum – fairness, respect and teamwork.
Held at either our secondary school sites or New York Stadium, the events reflected the strength of sporting opportunity available to all students within our Trust.
At Wickersley Partnership Trust (WPT), we believe that every child deserves access to high-quality sport and physical activity, regardless of ability or background. Our schools deliver inclusive PE curriculums that remove barriers to learning, broaden horizons, and develop confidence, critical thinking and lifelong healthy habits.
Our WPT enrichment programme also offers an extensive range of lunchtime and after-school clubs, fixtures, residentials and leadership opportunities, including the Duke of Edinburgh Award and student-led sports coaching – designed to encourage future athletes, coaches and leaders alike.
Together, these Sports Awards served as a fitting celebration of the positive impact of our PE curriculum and enrichment programmes. A huge congratulations to every single student that was invited up on stage to collect their well-deserved awards – you should be incredibly proud of your achievements, and we look forward to seeing all you achieve in the year ahead.
A special mention goes out to our fantastic PE Departments, without whom these Sports Awards would not be possible. Their commitment to delivering high-quality lessons, coaching teams, organising enrichment opportunities, and supporting every student’s development certainly does not go unnoticed!
