We’re incredibly proud that Josh Bartle, Assistant Headteacher at Clifton Community School, has been recognised with a Silver Award for Teacher of the Year in a Secondary School in this year’s Pearson National Teaching Awards. Chosen from thousands of nominees, they will now be in with a chance of winning the highly desired Gold Award, which will be announced at a prestigious awards ceremony in London and on BBC One’s The One Show later this year.
Josh is an MFL Teacher and a Senior Leader at Clifton, and his passion for teaching was ignited back in 2018, when he first brought his skills as a translator into the classroom to promote the undervalued skill of speaking a second language. He is a passionate advocate for ensuring that every child – no matter their background and community – has the chance to leave school able and qualified. Students in his classes believe that they can succeed and Josh has a proven track record of his students achieving the best results in Languages.
He is one of 93 deserving teachers, lecturers, leaders, support staff and institutions recognised as a Silver Winner in this year’s awards for the lasting impact they have on shaping the lives of young people.
Anna Leng, Headteacher at Clifton Community School, says: “I am extremely pleased that Josh has won a Silver Award. He works so hard, day in day out, for our students and school community – it’s fantastic to see this being rewarded on a national level.
“On behalf of everyone at Clifton, we’d like to say a massive well done. He has a huge future ahead of him and we are just so proud to have been a small part of his journey so far.”
A huge well done, Josh and all the best for the next round!
Josh Attends Silver Winner’s Afternoon Tea
Following his outstanding achievement in being awarded a Silver Award in the National Teaching Awards, Josh attended an exclusive celebratory event in London.
The occasion – held in Pall Mall – recognised and honoured the exceptional contributions made by some of our country’s most inspiring education staff.
Mr Bartle, Assistant Headteacher at Clifton Community School, said: “It was a privilege to attend the Silver Winner’s afternoon tea at the Royal Automobile Club as part of Pearson’s National Teaching Awards. To be amongst so many inspiring people from all areas of education was a real honour.
“Being a Silver Winner would not be possible without working with so many amazing colleagues, children and other stakeholders – all of whom help to make Clifton Community School and Wickersley Partnership Trust what it is today.”
The next stage of the awards is going for Gold as he is now in the running to be awarded the ‘Teacher of the Year in a Secondary School’ award!
Once again, everyone at Wickersley Partnership Trust is extremely proud of Josh’s accomplishment and we wish him all the best as he continues to progress through the awards process.
