On Tuesday 26th March two of our trust schools, Brinsworth Whitehill Primary and Aston Hall Junior and Infant School, took part in the Rotherham School Games #LetGirlsPlay event in partnership with Wath Academy and Barclays. The annual event saw 24 schools and over 240 girls play Football and Football based activities across two sessions using Wath Academy’s astro turf pitches.
This event allows Y3/4 girls from across Rotherham to come and try Football and gives them the opportunity to develop their skills, as well as gain some experience in playing Football in a competitive friendly environment. The activities were created and run by the Wath Scholars, who acted as positive female role models for the young girls.
Once again, the event allowed us to capitalise on the increasing momentum around the women’s game at the moment. Schools participating received a bag of Footballs and bibs to continue participation back at their school, as well as every girl receiving a free #LetGirlsPlay T-shirt to take home and continue spreading the message. 👏⚽
This year’s event was another great success with positive feedback from all in attendance and is an event the Rotherham School Games team look forward to working on the future.
