It’s Not OK Week 11th – 15th March 2024
On the 11th – 15th March, students across the five secondary schools in the Trust focused on “it’s not ok” linked to e-safety, consent and healthy relationships. They explored the different topics through the stories of characters who face some of these problems and used the excellent resources and advice of the NSPCC.
Students explored diverse topics through personal stories, such as Mikey’s journey with emotions and Leanne’s experience with E-safety. We encouraged dialogue and engaged in activities to facilitate discussions on various subjects.
We dedicated this time to raise awareness and promote the importance of safeguarding and protecting young people. It’s about fostering a safe, supportive environment where everyone feels empowered to speak up against any form of abuse or neglect.
Helen Tyrrell, WPT’s Director of Safeguarding, and Ellie Bannister, Director of PSHE, said this:
“It was a real pleasure to be part of the organisation of ‘It’s Not OK’ week across our secondary schools. Students engaged well on our visits and we were very impressed with the reactions from the students. This is a national issue for our young people, so to give time and dedication to this matter is fundamental in their development and learning. We want our students to go out into the world feeling confident and have a good understanding of their responsibilities and rights.”
