British Values
Wickersley Partnership Trust is committed to “sending all its students into an ever-changing world able and qualified to play their full part in it.”
It is the aim of the Trust to ensure that its students grow to become valuable and fully rounded members of society, who treat others with respect and tolerance.
WPT promotes the basic values of modern-day Britain including;
- Democracy
- The rule of law ie; know the difference between ‘right and wrong’
- Individual liberty
- Mutual respect and tolerance for those of different faiths and beliefs
The curriculum in our schools considers active citizenship, how democracy works in action, the laws which protect individual freedom, the acceptance of other beliefs and cultures and the importance of combatting discrimination.
WPT encourages its students to accept responsibility for their behaviour, show initiative, and to understand how they can contribute positively to the lives of those living and working in the locality of the school and to society more widely.
WPT, through its commitment to School Councils, makes sure that students have a voice and that voice is taken into consideration.
Students are actively encouraged to discuss, argue and defend points of view across a range of matters.
