WPT Hosts Year 6 Proms

WPT Hosts Year 6 Proms

Last week, we hosted Year 6 proms for all our primary schools at our Cranworth site to celebrate their primary journey before they head to their new schools.

Whilst their last year at primary has been far from normal, we wanted to wrap their time with us up with games, dancing, food and friends!

Across the site, we had different stations so there was something for everyone to enjoy:

The students danced the night away with our designated disco space. 🕺

The football mad had a pitch and a shoot-out area – a big thank you to Rotherham United Football Club for providing this! ⚽

A games area (including splat the rat, jenga and limbo) and an arts and crafts section was also popular among our students. 🎨

And lastly – to remember the night forever – we had a photo booth for those who wanted to walk down the red carpet, escape to an enchanted forest or fight off a dinosaur! 📸🤳

We would like to take this time to wish all our Year 6 students the best of luck in their next steps.

Take a look at some of the photos below. 👇

Aston Hall Junior & Infant School raises over £1600 for Sheffield Children's Hospital & Charity

Aston Hall Junior & Infant School raises over £1600 for Sheffield Children's Hospital & Charity

Staff and students at Aston Hall Junior & Infant School recently stepped up to the challenge and walked 10,000 steps to help raise money for Sheffield Children’s Hospital & Charity.

Many of the staff and students got involved over the week to get their steps in, and have managed to raise almost £1700 in total.

Aston Hall chose to donate to this charity as it is a charity close to its heart – having an ex-student currently battling Leukemia, and many of its children and staff having used the hospital in recent years.

Mrs Hicks at Aston Hall Junior & Infant School said: “Aston Hall has chosen Sheffield Children’s Hospital to raise money for this year as it means a great deal to a lot of our staff and students, past and present. Especially for an ex-student, Harrison, who is currently battling Leukemia and is being very well cared for by Ward 6 at the hospital.

“At Christmas, we sponsored a snowflake, which was lit up at the side of the building, and we had the challenge of raising £1000 to have our name on the snowflake. To get this amount, we decided to get the children active in lockdown by walking 10,000 steps in a week and so many children took part to raise money for the charity.

“As a school, we managed to raise almost £1700, which is amazing!

“We are also taking part in the ‘Bears of Sheffield’ where we have to design and paint a large bear. The bear will be designed by a student and placed in Sheffield for the public to see, so watch this space!”

Well done everyone!

Brand New Foundation Stage Outdoor Provision

Brand New Foundation Stage Outdoor Provision

Throughout lockdown and during the summer holidays, something magical appeared in our Foundation Stage outdoor areas across our primary schools. Our children returned to brand new Outdoor Provision, featuring climbing frames, driving tracks, water walls, stages, and so much more! Our Foundation Stage children have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to learn, play and explore using their brand new equipment, and couldn’t be happier. We would like to thank Pentagon Play for an amazing service from start to finish.

This short video gives you just a taste of our new Outdoor Provision.  Watch out for more detailed videos from each school, coming to individual websites next week!

Year 6 Virtual Athletics Competition

Year 6 Virtual Athletics Competition

Our 8 primary schools have been competing in a virtual athletics competition. The competition saw schools competing against each other virtually in disciplines such as speed bounce, 1km running, planking and target throwing.

After 4 weeks of hard work, grit and determination, the final results are in!

Congratulations to Aston Hall on finishing in first place, having never scored outside of the top 3 in any of the weeks! In second place is Aston Lodge, with Brinsworth Whitehill rounding out the top 3.

Well done to everyone who took part.

Welcome Back, Year 6!

Welcome Back, Year 6!

Last week our primary schools were very excited to welcome back the first batch of Year 6 children.  After 9 weeks away emotions were high, but our superstar children impressed all of us by showing great spirit and determination.  We would like to thank all of our children, parents/carers and staff for their continued support in these unprecedented times.  The photos below give just a small taster of what our children got up to last week!
