About the role

We are looking to appoint a child centred, enthusiastic and motivational person to join our team at Wickersley School and Sports College.  Your role will be to work under the direction and instruction of the class teacher, to support a student with specific additional medical needs on a 2:1 basis, and to work as part of a co-ordinated care team. You will work to support the student within the classroom meeting their individual needs from a care plan.

If successful, you will be required to undertake Intensive theoretical and practical Tracheostomy training to enable you to provide the necessary care.

Duties include

  • To support students, and in particular a student with a specific medical need, at all times as required by the class teacher. This may be general overall supervision, working individually with students or working with students within the classroom
  • To provide support which enables students to play as full a part in school life as possible, and to anticipate students’ needs so that they have equal opportunities to other children
  • To liaise with teaching and other staff to plan tasks and to report back on progress to the student’s key staff
  • To undertake regular training and refresher training for the care of a student with a tracheostomy tube and carry out all necessary procedures and care as required throughout the school day, to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the student at all times

The successful candidate will have a good educational background and a real desire to enrich the education of students.

There may be some requirements for training to take place over the school summer holidays.
