About the role

As Safeguarding Officer, you will work alongside the Safeguarding Manager at The Gainsborough Academy to promote pupil welfare and support with safeguarding, acting as a source of advice and support to staff in dealing with any child protection concerns that arise.

The role involves:

  • Appropriate response to disclosures relating to the well-being of a child
  • Making referrals where appropriate to the relevant authorities
  • Attendance and contribution at inter-agency meetings and strategy discussions
  • Home visits to provide outreach to families and offer advice and support
  • Ensuring all staff have up to date and appropriate safeguarding training
