Last week, Wickersley Partnership Trust Secondary Schools hosted their Y5/6 Open Evenings to mark the start of the Y6 transition to secondary education.
Our five secondary schools opened their doors up to prospective students and parents to give them an insight into life in a WPT secondary school.
All the schools held Headteacher talks, which gave the students and parents an opportunity to listen to our Headteachers talk passionately about their schools and what life at the schools can be like for those who will be attending from September 2024. The Headteachers explained the structure of our school days, how we cater to every student, the Ways and how we fulfil our aim to send all young people into an ever-changing world able and qualified to play their full part in it.
Alongside the Headteacher talks, our schools offered in-depth tours of the campuses and some taster sessions of lessons including English, Maths, Science, ICT and Music lessons to name a few. These taster sessions aim to help Y6s get a feel for their lessons and the different ways they are encouraged to learn within the curriculum.
There was a very enthusiastic atmosphere, as the potential students and parents learnt more about the schools that could help shape their future in education and beyond. All the lessons and talks were well received and we hope that everyone got the chance to find out as much information about our schools and the Trust as possible.
We would like to thank all the members of staff who organised the evenings and ensured everything ran smoothly, and our student volunteers who helped to show visitors around the schools – you did a fantastic job in representing what your schools stand for.
If you have any questions about any future Y6 Transition events for any of our secondary schools, don’t hesitate to get in touch with the school.
