WPT Raise £3746 for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice

Back in May, the Rotherham School Games team organised a Colour Run for nine of our schools within Wickersley Partnership Trust to raise funds for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.

The event was a huge success and we’re pleased to announce that we raised a grand total of £3746.91 for the charity!

This week, the Rotherham School Games team were lucky enough to be taken on a tour of the fabulous Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice in Dinnington.

They were amazed at the range of facilities on offer to the visiting children and their families – these included a sensory room, soft play, a games room, and an arts and crafts room.

The team viewed the different bedrooms that are used for a family’s 14 night allocation per year, and saw how they can be changed around to suit children of differing needs, to ensure they’re as comfortable as possible.

Though the costs of running such a fantastic facility are eye-watering – a whopping £5 million per year!

Only a small portion of this is funded, so Bluebell Wood rely heavily on fundraising to continue offering this exceptional service to families of unwell children.

After the success of our first event, Rotherham School Games will be looking to offer a similar one but on a much larger scale!

Next year, we will involve many more of our Rotherham schools with a view to raising even more money for such a worthwhile cause.

Keep an eye out for more information about the Rotherham School Games Colour Run – coming Spring 2024!
